Some good news (for now)
Thursday night the manager from another store talked to R. She is going to be having surgery in the middle of September and will need to be out for 6-8 weeks. She told R that she would talk to their boss about him covering her store while she is out. Then Friday their boss called and said they hired a manager at a store in St. Louis but she needed to be trained and could not work alone until she is trained. She asked if he would be interested in going to train her. We talked about it and to bide some time with having an income he is going to do it. He will leave on Labor and be gone for two weeks and if all works out he will go to the other store locally and cover the managers leave. Then hopefully the store he is hoping for will come open. It is certainly not the ideal situation, but will keep him employeed for the time being. He hasn't heard anything back about the applications he has sent in the last week. Hopefully this is all a good thing. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. They are really appreciated. I know many of you know about being a single parent for stretches of time. I hope I can do it.

I messed up my first attempt at a comment, so let's try it again, shall we? :)

Stephanie, I got your comment on my Five Ingredient Friday post from last week.
It sounds as if you have a lot more important things on your mind now, so no worries about not getting a recipe up last Friday.
I read all the posts about R's job. I pray that it all works out for your family. Being laid off is a scary thing, I've been through it before, but God has a way of making it all work out somehow and sometimes it ends up being a blessing in disguise.
I hope R doesn't get laid off, that he gets another store in the end. If, for some reason that doesn't happen, I hope he can find an even better job quickly!
Good luck being a single mom for the 2 weeks that he's in St. Louis. Somehow, I think you'll do just fine!
Hang in there. I'll offer up prayers!
Thank you so much OW.
Stephanie, any news to share about R's job situation? Your family is still in my prayers!
